According to Sharing Excess, more than 10 million children live in food insecure households today, and many families are often ineligible for financial support.  A staggering 40% of food supply in the USA is wasted every year for logistical reasons like inventory turnover, lack of affordable transportation, and non-standardized expiration dates.  Sharing Excess helps turn people’s excess food into conveniently accessible food for underserved communities in Philadelphia.
