New Community Garden for Alain Locke Elementary in Philadelphia!

In continuation of our outstanding partnership with Greener Partners, Ron Jaworski’s Foundation, Jaws Youth Playbook, was able to completely refresh and revive the community garden located at Alain Locke Elementary in West Philadelphia! Together we built, painted, and sowed brand-new garden beds for students and local community members to grow fresh fruit and vegetables, while also allowing children to learn more about gardening and cooking healthy meals on a budget!

This comes right after our previous community garden build at Roosevelt Elementary, which is growing and thriving this summer!

Greener Partners focuses on strengthening community health through urban farming, equitable fresh food access, and discovery-based learning. Through this collaboration, we’re excited to see so many community members participate in their new garden! We also were able to provide a $10,000 donation to Greener Partners towards the development of this garden and the community garden at Roosevelt Elementary!

Special thank you to our community garden and Summer Meals sponsors who helped make this possible: Mid Penn Bank, Chemglass Life Sciences, Scott Payne Custom Pools, M&T Bank, Pulte Group, American Executive Centers, Canopy, 6ABC, Columbia Bank, & Independence Blue Cross.
